Chalk Art Festival

It's been so long since I posted about an outing. Even though Emily is still on 2 naps, it's at a pretty consistent time so if we plan things well, we can maximize how long we are about to be out. Her first nap is always short so I don't feel too bad if she falls asleep in her stroller but I do want her to be home for her second nap because that is the long one.

I found out that the Chalk Art Festival was happening this weekend so we decided to head over downtown to look at the chalk art. This definitely reminded me of the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. Obviously, this one was only chalk art but the Festival of the Masters also had chalk artists at work. Of course we went Sunday because that's when a majority of the art would be complete.

I'm so glad we went. The weather was perfect, Emily was in a good mood, and the art was fantastic.

Artists hard at work

We got there around 10 and it was already super crowded. It officially started at 10 but the roads were packed. Especially, families like ours that have little ones where they are in better moods in the morning. There was a lot of toddlers, little kids and strollers around so navigating got a little spotty at times. Luckily, we don't have a ridiculous bulky stroller so it wasn't too hard to get around. (Sidebar, I love our stroller. It is the perfect balance between an umbrella stroller and a heavy duty one.)

Here's some of my favorites:

This is our favorite hands down

Yes, that is Mojo Jojo

Breaking Bad fans will appreciate

The event was bigger than we thought, but it wasn't huge; the whole festival was basically a cross going down a block each way. We actually saw most of it while Emily napped which was about 30 minutes. Still, there was a lot to see and instead of stopping at each one we just looked while we kept walking.

We then wrapped up the day with lunch at Noodles & Co. and a stroll down the 16th Street Mall.

And here's a couple reasons why we love it here:
Group yoga

It's hard to see because of the crowd, but the announcer onstage is leading a yoga class. Amazing! He was calling out poses as the participants followed along.

Bikes with baby seat trailers

We saw bikes and bikes with baby trailers hooked up EVERYWHERE. It is amazing. I love that a majority of the population sees this as normal.

And to prove that it was a great day, when we came home, Emily went down easily for her afternoon nap. Yeah!

Happy spring/summer everyone!
